The pair, Donnell Davis Whitter, 43, and Lawrence Reginald Miller, 33, appeared before U.S. Commissioner W. Madden Hill Friday afternoon. Both men asked for a hearing on the charges and a time for it was set for 1 p. m., Dec. 9. Commissioner Hill followed the recommendation of a $10,000 bond for each man. Whitter and Miller were arrested by Dallas police on Nov. 18 following a high speed chase through East Dallas. They finally were apprehended when the sports car the two subjects were driving crashed into a utility pole at Gaston and Hall. Whitter received severe internal injuries in the crash and Miller cuts and bruises on his face. Asst. U.S. Atty. B.H. Timmins said Whitter, who has been hospitalized at Parkland Hospital since his arrest, will be transferred to the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital in Fort Worth. Officers found the weapons - two machine guns, one sub-machine gun, and two Browning automatic rifles - on the backseat floor of the car. End quote
