Write to Vince Palamara at: vmplac@telerama.com Secret Service/related "loose ends" from HSCA and other sources: -Agents Winston G. Lawson (1953-1955)and Louis Sims (1950's) served three years with the U.S. Army Intelligence Division at Fort Holabird, MD. This is also where Richard Case Nagell served for part of his Army career; -Agent Glen Bennett told the HSCA that he "was not on the Florida trip [11/18/63]", yet the Secret Service shift reports for that trip state that he was there; -Agent Tim McIntyre also told the HSCA that he did not believe he was assigned to either the Miami OR the Chicago trips for Nov. 1963, also contradicted by the shift reports!; -Agent Henry J. Rybka is listed as being on the first NY trip---in the follow-up car--- in Nov. 1963 by agent David B. Grant, yet other Secret Service shift reports from the same date state that he was back in Washington (?!) [remember Agent Rybka's "mistaken" placement in the follow-up car in three separate reports on/ after 11/22/63: two by Emory P. Roberts dated 11/22/63 (a later report "corrects" the error), the other the Final Survey Report by Winston Lawson (who also "corrects" the error, although Rybka IS NOT EVEN MENTIONED in the Preliminary Survey Report to begin with!)]; -Agent Lubert "Bert" F. DeFreese told the HSCA that "no PRS agent accompanied [him] on this trip [to Texas]", yet PRS agent Glen Bennett was with DeFreese on both the Florida AND the Texas trip, having "temporarily" joined the WHD on 11/10/63, right after the FIRST NY trip (11/8-11/9/63)and BEFORE the SECOND NY trip (11/14-11/15; he even needed reminding by Lawson that he would ride in the FOLLOW-UP car on 11/22/63). Was Bennett there to monitor threat subjects covertly, which was covered up afterwards? Also, remember how Bennett's observations-via his 11/22/63 handwritten notes---were used by Chief James J. Rowley to buttress the notion that JFK was struck in the back [not the back of the neck, by the way]from the rear (Bennett claimed to have SEEN this shot strike JFK in the back), in spite of the films/ photos that appear to depict Bennett looking away from JFK, a point made by Lifton, Evica, and others before me; -Agent William R. Greer told the HSCA that he "followed the pilot car to Parkland Hospital", although DNC advance man Jack Puterbaugh---who rode IN the pilot car---told the HSCA that their car "pulled over and let the motorcade pass"! Previously, Greer had stated that the LEAD car---with Chief Curry---led him to the hospital. In any event, the Daniel film and several other photographic sources depict the limousine in FRONT of the lead car on the way to Parkland Hospital. Greer also stated that he "recall[ed] embracing Mrs. Kennedy and saying something about wishing he could have been more evasive or avoided the tragedy" which corroborates William Manchester's graphic account of Greer's survivor's guilt (Manchester had interviewed Greer for his book). Greer twice stated that there was a back wound on JFK and twice called it a shoulder wound, as well (he also said that the metal probe "only went n a short way"). In addition, Greer said that "when the doctors pronounced President Kennedy dead [he] was handed the President's clothing, wallet and WATCH, which he took back to Washington. He directed agent Rybka at Andrews Air Force Base to put the shopping bag in his locker at the White House. A few days later he returned Kennedy's WATCH and wallet to Ken O'Donnell" [emphasis added]. However, Dallas agent Roger Warner's report AND CD 3 tell a different story re: JFK's watch--- it went to O.P. Wright, then to Warner, then to D.C.; although seemingly trivial on its face, why would Greer be in such conflict the others (who are corroborated) on this matter? Remember, the autopsy doctors were not given access to JFK's clothing and, while still at Parkland, Greer returned to the emergency room after everyone was getting ready to leave with the body to go back to Love Field (agent Andy Berger drove the hearse back to the airport in place of Greer); -advance agent Winston Lawson also told the HSCA that, in regard to planning the Texas trip, he had "many conversations back and forth with (Floyd) Boring". Fellow advance agent David B. Grant, who was working since 11/13/63 with Lawson on the Texas trip (although he did not physically join Lawson IN Dallas unil 11/18/63), had just completed advance duties on JFK's trip to Florida, manned by Floyd Boring; -Agent "Lem" Johns, after serving on the WHD, became the SAIC of the Birmingham, Alabama office (Harvey Henderson was the ASAIC [Henderson is a man strongly suspected of being involved in the assassination by Abe Bolden]). After retiring from the Secret Service, he became Special Assistant to LBJ aide Joseph Califano; -ASAIC Floyd Boring said in his JFK Library Oral History dated 2/25/76: "I concur 100 percent with the Warren Report"; -The "Nashville Banner" from 1/23/92 carried a report that a mortal threat to President Kennedy's life was hushed up by the Secret Service when JFK visited Nashville, TN, on 5/18/63. The information came from Rep. Bob Clement, the son of former Governor Frank Clement, JFK's host during his 1963 visit to the state (both Clements met JFK on this trip [inc. is a photo from the trip depicting both the elder Clement and his son]). At Overton High School, a man approached the president with a gun underneath a sack---he was grabbed by the Secret Service and the incident itself was kept quiet in order to keep from encouraging similar scares [think of all the copycat school shootings there are today because of media hype!]. Bob Clement said: "Back in those days, privacy was easier to accomplish". The paper interviewed the widow of Paul Doster, the former SAIC of the Nashville office who died in 1987)---although Paul did not mention the incident to her, she said: "But, you've got to remember, he was pretty secretive, even to me." For his part, Agent Doster told the "Nashville Banner" back on 5/18/63 that "a complete check of the entire motorcade route" was done (also, "other [police] officers were assigned atop the municipal terminal and other buildings along the route. These men took their posts at 8 a.m. and remained at their rooftop stations until the president and his party passed". In addition, a helicopter was used, similar to its use on 11/21/63 in San Antonio, TX). Agents/ important personnel on this trip inc. Salinger, Behn, Kellerman, Greer, Roberts, DeFreese, Duncan, Chandler, Yeager, Nunn, O'Leary, Grant, Sulliman, Lawson, Olsson, Paolella, Burns, and DNC advance man Jerry Bruno; -"Tampa Tribune", 11/19/63: photo of agents Donald J. Lawton and Charles T. Zboril riding on rear of JFK's limousine, holding onto handrails [seems to be at a fast pace, judging by the blown hair look!]. Lawton and Zboril both told me that they rode on the rear of JFK's limo throughout the Tampa trip, as this photo---and other photos---confirms. While Lawton joined many of his colleagues in denouncing the fraudelent notion that JFK did not want agents on the rear of his car, even ordering the men off, Zboril was the only agent I spoke to who would NOT answer the question either way: he told me, quite emotionally, "Where did you read that? Do you want me commenting officially?"; -JFK's 10-state "Conservation Tour", 9/24/63-10/63--- agents/ important personnel inc.
