GARRISON*S JFK INVESTIGATION A SHAM,
NEWLY RELEASED DOCUMENTS INDICATE
 
It is by-lined Michael Dorman of Newsday
 
 
It is based on secret documents just released...by the US ARRB...
6000 pages obtained from the family of the late New Orleans attorney 
Edward Wegmann who helped successfully defend Clay Shaw...
 
...Garrison picked Shaw*s name almost at random as the target of his
investigation...according to William Gurvich, a former investigator 
for Garrison...
 
...Garrison came up with the notion that Shaw was Bertrand on the basis of
speculative notes made by his chief assistant Frank Klein, now dead...
 
...on the basis of this speculation...Garrison claimed Shaw had taken part 
in a plot to assassinate Kennedy...Gurvich described Garrison as proposing 
irrational theories about the assassination...Although there was no 
evidence...Garrison arrested Shaw.
 
One final paragraph (3-col-inches) says the Garrison family also donated 
(15,000 pages of) Garrison*s documents...among which a barber...Lea McGee...
in Clinton, Louisiana, said the saw Oswald and Shaw together...and that 
he cut Oswald*s hair, even though Oswald didn*t need a haircut.

...but they give 34-col-inches to Gurvich claims, 3-col-inches to 
McGee*s. Does Newsday have a bias?
