From: "Coalition on Political Assasinations" Date: Wed, 28 Jan 1998 16:05 --------------------------------------------------------------- OBITUARY Midlothian Mirror, January 26, 1998 Penn Jones, Jr. October 15, 1914 - January 25, 1998 Penn Jones, Jr., 83, of Alvarado passed away Sunday, January 25, 1998 in Alvarado. He was born October 15, 1914, in Annona to Penn and Gussie May Jones, St. He ran the Midlothian Mirror for 30 years and was the author of a series of books, Forgive My Grief, Volumes I - IV, concening the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. He also was the recipient of the Elijah Parish Lovejoy Award for Courage in Journalism after his shop was firebombed in 1961. He was also a Brigadier General in the United States Army, and served in al the major campaigns of Europe during World War II. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waxahachie, and was given last rights by Father Mark Seitz. He was survived by two sons, Penn Jones III of Fort Worth, and Michael Jones of Dallas; two granddaughters, Melis and Nedjie; a daughter-in-law, Donna; and his wife [note: both his former and current wives survive him, L.A. Jones and Elaine Jones]. A cremation is scheduled for Tuesday, January 27, 1998, and Mr. Jones' ashes will be scattered over his farm in Ellis County. -- -- -- -- Memorial services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waxahachie, Texas on Saturday morning, January 30, 1998. Both his wife and family members have asked that any donations be made to the Altzheimer's Foundation in lieu of flowers.
