Spiritual Council
The consistory shall constitute the Board of Trustees,
and shall be composed of the Pastor(s), Elders, Deacons, Deaconesses, Secretary
and Treasurer. It shall transact the business of the church. It
shall hold the property and other buildings belonging to the Congregation in
proper repair and adapt for uses it approves. It is composed of
the Pastor, seven Elders (maximum of five of any one sex), ten
Deacons/Deaconesses (maximum six of any one sex), Secretary, and
Treasurer. The Elders and Deacons/Deaconesses serve two year terms
with a maximum of two consecutive terms. It is the Consistory's
obligation to follow and enforce the Constitution and By-laws.
Standing Committees
Christian Education Committee
Evangelism Committee
Flower Committee
The flower committee coordinates the purchase of flowers for the altar each Sunday. Church members are invited to sign up for alter flowers one or more Sundays during the year. They may dedicate their gift of altar flowers to special life events ( a wedding anniversary or a child's birthday, for example), or in memory of a loved one.
Music Committee
Ministry Committee
This committee was formed to help families when a death occurs in the church family. When a death happens the family may want a luncheon after the funeral service. With the help of the church, it supplies that luncheon at the church; or, we may bring lunch to the person's house so that the family can share a more private time. Also, the committee can make arrangements for a "house-sitter" during visiting hours and the funeral service if the family wishes to have this service. At other times, this committee may help out when a church member is released from the hospital or may be unable to cook due to an illness and need food brought to the home. In some cases this committee may be called upon to supply baby-sitting services for a short time.
Program & Fellowship Committee
Program and Fellowship Committee shall plan coffee hours, events, and opportunities that work to fulfill the needs of fellowship within the Congregation:
· Coordinate and set up one monthly coffee hour
· Coordinate and set up special coffee hours for members who have graduated from high school or college and those confirmed through Grace Church
· Coordinate church picnic in the Summer
· Coordinate some annual fellowship events -- ice cream social, dances (square dance, line dance, etc.), pot luck dinner.
Property Committee
We are blessed with 15,000 square feet of building and over eleven acres of land, and with these come much joy and work. It is our task to organize, plan, schedule, and implement all property improvements and maintenance for both the building and grounds. We also need to prepare appropriate contracts for any sub-contract services and for outside interest groups who use the facilities. We maintain and post regulations governing the use of the facilities and to regulate and monitor the placement and use of all equipment, furniture, and furnishings including outside use.
Stewardship, Missions, and Social Action Committee
Stewardship, missions & social action committee prepares a budget for the church, and tries to figure out ways to underwrite the budget. We also oversee mission activities of Grace Church. During the year we receive special mission offerings a little less than once a month. Such offerings teach us what our United Church of Christ is doing, and keep us thinking about what we should be doing. We have responsibilities to serve God and to serve God’s church. They include giving money, and helping others -- here and around the world. Why? Because God loves us.
