- Before Summit County was formed in 1840 Springfield Township belonged to several other counties. The date of 1800 has been used as a reference point since it is close to the 1803 date when Ohio became a state.
1800 to 1808: The area of Springfield Twp was in Trumbull County.
(Trumbull County was established in 1800)1808 to 1812: The area of Springfield Twp was in Portage County.
(Portage County was established in 1808.)1840 to Present: The area of Springfield Twp is in Summit County.
(Summit County was formed in 1840.)

The following information is being provided to give you an idea of the location, or approximate location, of all known township cemeteries. It will also help identify any cemeteries where the gravestones or burial records have been copied and, if known, where this information can be found.
EDWIN SHAW SANITARIUM:
On the grounds of the Edwin Shaw Hospital, a rehabilitation facility, which started as a sanitarium for tuberculosis patients. The cemetery, which is inaccessible to the public, is for patients who died at the sanitarium between 1915 - 1922. There are no gravestones, only numbered markers. The Hospital has interrment records.ELLET CEMETERY: a.k.a. North Springfield Presbyterian Church Cemetery
Established in 1823. Located behind the church on the south side of Albrecht Ave, just east of Canton Rd.GREENWOOD CEMETERY:
Located at 3821 Mogadore Rd in Mogadore. On the northeast corner of Mogadore Rd at Gilchrist Rd.HILLSIDE MEMORIAL PARK:
Located at 1025 Canton Rd. On the east side of Canton Rd north of Waterloo Rd (Rt 224).KEISER CEMETERY: a.k.a. Springfield Township Cemetery.
Located at 3575 Tisen Rd. In the southeast corner of the township on Tisen Rd, off of Canton Rd, near the Portage County line. Maintained by the township.MAPLE HILL CEMETERY:
Located on the north side of Albrecht Ave, at Lessig Ave, near the Portage County line.MEMORY LANE CEMETERY:
Located on Wedgewood Dr about 100 yards behind Eastgate Shopping Plaza, which is on Canton Rd. A Depression-era cemetery for 22 Ellet residents who were buried 1930-1939. No gravestones. Abandoned and overgrown until 1998 when Dick Gardner, a local historian, became interested in preserving this cemetery. The grounds were cleaned and a ceremony was held 19 Sep 1998 to rededicate this cemetery and a new memorial stone inscribed with the names of all known persons who were interred.MEMORIAL PARK CEMETERY: a.k.a. Hillside Memorial Park.
Located on the south side of Albrecht Ave, east of Canton Rd, between Stull Ave and Junior Ave. This cemetery has been incorporated into Hillside Memorial Park.MILLHEIM CEMETERY:
Located at 2260 Myersville Rd. Adjacent to Millheim United Church of Christ on the west side of Myersville Rd north of Killian Rd, between Easptort Dr and Hayne Rd.ST. NICHOLAS RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CEMETERY:
Located on the south side of Krumroy Rd, just west of Massillon Rd, at the end of Kays Dr.THOMASTOWN CEMETERY:
No known information other than a vague historical reference that there was a cemetery at Thomastown. The area known as Thomastown was located where S Arlington St intersects Triplett Blvd.WESTON CEMETERY: a.k.a. Old Springfield Cemetery
Located on the west side of S Seiberling St at Archwood Ave. Across the road for the Goodyear test track and barely visible from the road.Notice to our readers:
