History:This is the oldest Orthodox cemetery in existence in the area. The oldest legible gravestone here is dated 1897. The Orthodox congregation that established the cemetery became known as the Sons of Peace in 1900. Their first synagogue was located on East Market St. By the mid-1960’s, the group had been phased out with remaining members being distributed to other congregations in the area.
