The following items in the
bible are interesting.
1. A paper with the Lord's
Prayer in the same script as the fron cover. After the prayer is:
For Sara [drawing
of a heart] Jane Betz by her grandpa Abr.=Betz
2. Two cards, the size of
business cards. One says Mrs Ettie Kline and the other says
H. L. Jennings. No
other writing on the cards.
3. Stiff, eggshell colored, perforated paper, the size of a bookmark, with the words "still remembered" cross-stitched in rust colored thread.
4. Paper, about 3x5", cut
out in the shape of a hand. Another circular piece of paper is glued in
the center of the palm. On the thumb and each finger is written"
thumb - 1867
1st finger - Miss
2nd finger - Sarah
3rd finger - Jane
4th finger - Betz
Writing around the circle
reads: "round is the ring that hath no end so is my love to you my friend".
Nothing to indicate who made this.
5. Strands of brown hair, braided in a delicate pattern, and joined to form a circle between the size of a quarter and half dollar. The center of the circle is open. This was attached to a small piece of paper that says: F. F. Betz / A. ?. Betz
Notice: Several family members whose births and marriages are written in this bible are still living. In order to respect their right to privacy their names have been omitted.
