


Anyone who is a direct descendent of an individual who settled in the area now encompassed by the County of Summit in 1850 or before may become a member of the "First Settlers of Summit County, Ohio".

Anyone is eligible to become a member of this lineage group as long as he/she is a direct descendent of any person or has a collateral relative who served in the CIVIL WAR for the Union, Confederacy, "Squirrel Hunters",
spies or nurses. This ancestor, male or female, must have lived, died, or served in Summit County, Ohio. The dates of service must be between 12 April 1861 and 18 April 1865.
