HELLER/TETZLAFF

Looking for any information, notes or references regarding my mother's family who moved to Northfield Ohio in 1915 and lived on Hazel Drive. My grandfather, Max Heller, my grandmother, Martha Tetzlaff Heller, my Uncle, Erwin Heller and of course my mom, Eliza (Elsie) Heller. Although the grandparents lived there until their deaths and are buried at Northfield Macedonia Cemetery next to my sister's (Lynda Faye Brewer aged 6) marked grave my mother moved to Akron and worked at Goodyear after graduation from Northfield High School in 1939. Though back and forth from FL to OH on family visits she eventually moved to Florida and has resided in Milton about 50 years now. She will be 87 years old on Jan 10, 2008. I began my search project in 2005 and have come across a few things but would love to have anything that mentions a Heller of Northfield to add to the "family library".

WITT, STOTZMAN, STOLZMAN
I have been searching and am getting small bites on this family of mine. My ggggrandfather Fred Witt was b. in German 1/19/1862 as Ferdinand Theodore Witt, he died in Hudson, Summit County, Ohio on 9/9/1937. He was a labor on the railroad. Now his wife, Bertha Witt, was born Bertha Stoltzman (this is listed on her death cert.); she was born on 10/4/1861 in Germany and she died on 7/5/1920 [this is the kicker this info is according to her death cert. I recently received from the library there in Summit County BUT no one can find info on this family as far as this goes, their child Fred witt died along with his son and another brother by getting hit by a car (this newspaper articles I have, as well as death certs) BUT my ggggrandmother died as a result of a train accident and a broken back, in theory I guess you could say she may have went to visit her husband and accidently was hit, cause it was considered an accidental death BUT I cannot find any newspaper articles or obits on these family names]. Can anyone help me find more info and pics of this family; pictures would be awesome! and newspaper articles to make this book of my family would be even better! The Witts married into the Harter family from Cleveland/Cuyahoga County, Ohio and that's where I descend from; Amelia Witt married my great grandfather John Harter so ANY BOOKS and research any biographies on this family from the library would be an awesome addition! :) thank you (N0706)

BROWN
I am looking for information on a family ancestor Mrs. Richard Brown of Norwegian descent who I believe died between 1896 (birth of youngest child) and 1900. I do not know her given and maiden name. 1900 Census Akron, Summit County, Ohio shows Richard Brown (39) immmigrated in 1870 from Wales and he was employed as a bartender. Also in family, second wife Anna (31), May (13), Edith (8), Freddie (6) & Bessie (4). All the children list their as born in Wales and mother in Holand. There is a Holand, Norway sited on a fjord about half the way up the Norwegian coast. Later census makes clear that the children's mother was born in Norway. Second wife and husband married 2 years in 1900. Wife Anna lists both parents born in Wales. (N0705)

WITMEYER
. I am looking for information on a Levi Witmeyer, whose obituary read partly as follows: 'Levi Witmeyer, aged about 82 years, an old and highly respected citizen of Stonington, died at a hospital in Decatur on Sunday, December 17, at about 9 o'clock p.m.… Levi Witmeyer was born near Lancaster, Pa., July 16, 1823, passed peacefully away in death at Decatur, Ill., Dec. 17, 1905; aged 82 years, 5 months and one day. In 1840 Father Witmeyer, walking over the mountains located in Stark County, Ohio, living there until 1867, when he removed to near Stonington, Christian County, Ill. May l9, 1850 he was united in marriage to Susan Schlott, the fruits of their union being 5 children, two daughters living and one dead and two sons who are also dead…. Father Witmeyer was baptized in infancy and united with the church soon after his marriage in 1850. He led an exemplary Christian life, was upright and honest in his business transactions, his faith in his Lord and Master growing stronger and stronger and his hopes of a blessed immortality brighter and brighter as the end of his days drew nigh.' He had a son Samuel Witmeyer who was born February 26, 1863 in Green Township, Summit County, which I learned from the genealogical society website had been formed partly from Stark County. The marriage of Levi Witmeyer to Susan Schlott took place near Stonington, Illinois, the birthplace of Susan Schlott, so I wouldn't expect to find any records of the wedding in the Ohio records. What is of special interest to me is his church affiliation. The obituary says that he 'was baptized in infancy and united to the church soon after his marriage in 1850.' I am speculating that he may have been a member of a Protestant denomination that would have the practice of infant baptism, such as Presbyterian or Dutch or German Reformed or perhaps even Lutheran. I am wondering if you might know of any such churches in or near Green Ohio that might have been around during this time period of around 1850, and if so, how I might find out about any records that they might have. Many thanks for your trouble.(N0703)

PANIER/BRIDGEMAN
I am trying to find a stepsister from my dad’s first marriage where her mother died giving birth of my half brother, baby Panier. My dad, Roger Panier bought several plots where his dad Gaspar Panier, is buried with his first wife and baby. He gave permission to have his stepdaughter buried in one of the plots also. I believe her name was Virginia Bridgeman. She had a son and so I don’t know whether that was her given name or married name. I am trying to find her son Troy. I believe that was his name. I am 67 and I think that he was a little younger then me but I really don’t remember as we rarely saw them and she has MS and we moved to CA in1953. I think she died after we moved but am not sure. Any information would be greatly appreciated.(N0612)

DICKERSON/HERTZOG
I am trying to find the birth date of who would have been my half sister, Christanne Dickerson or perhaps Hertzog born around 1930 in Akron, Ohio to my mother, Christina Adeline Hertzog born 6/26/1913, daughter of Clifford Dickerson, a boarder, but this was the father of little Christann who died around 1932. I can’t find a marriage for them nor can I find the birth date of Christann. The story I was told years ago was that Christann died of malnutrition and died the night of my mother’s marriage to Harry R. Trachsel, in Akron. It’s a sad story now that I’m trying to work on my genealogy. It would be nice to know the truth. If you can find anything that would help me, please let me know. CREITZER / KREITZE
I am interested in a family by the name of Creitzer/Kreitzer that was in summit County, Ohio in 1840.  Their children were born there from 1824-1850.  After 1850 they moved on to Berrien County, Michigan.  I am wondering if there are any Lutheran Church records available from that time period.  This family was "Pennsylvania Dutch".  John Kritzer married Elizabeth Raber in Stark County in 1830 and he was probably married before that.  John would have been born about 1782 in Pennsylvania.  His father was Andrew Kritzer/Critzer of Pennsylvania.  John and Elizabeth died in Berrien County, Michigan.  I am intersted in baptisms etc that may be included in early church records there in Summit/Stark County.  I know part of Summiet County was in Stark County before 1840. ROSWELL / SABO
I beleive that I am the great great grandson of Ambose Roswell and his wife Mary.  I would like to know Mary's maiden name. They were born in Canada and lived in Hudson, Ohio. I beleive that they may have died in Hudson as well. I have not totally confirmed my great Grandfather Charles Roswell to being their son. I know that he was born in Hudson, Ohio in 1876. The only Roswell family capable of being his parent were Ambrose and Mary during this time. Ambrose Roswell was born in 1841 and Mary in 1842 both in Canada. So, if you have any confirmation on Charles Roswell's parents being Ambrose and Mary...that would be very nice as well. My father's name is Charles Roswell Sabo born in Conneaut, Ohio.  Son of Mary Blanche Roswell born in Conneaut, Ohio as well.  Ambrose Roswell's father was Ambrose Roswell born in Canada in 1791. He died in Hudson, Ohio on 01 Oct 1877. [N0510]

MILLER / McGINNIS
I have come across a stumbling block with my great grandmother. She is Margaret "Maggie" McGinnis Miller. born July 1870 PA, and died Feb. 29, 1904 in Akron hospital, Akron, Ohio. Maggie mother was from Ireland, and father from NY. Maggie married Warren Elmer Miller on April 13, 1891 in Youngstown, Ohio. I have copy of certificate. Also, Warren remarried after Maggie died, but I have no information on 2nd wife either. And Warren is buried at Union Cemetery in Canal Fulton, Ohio. No Maggie buried, there. I am looking for Maggie's place of resting, and death certificate/autopsy. She died at the age of 32, supposedly of childbirth and the child died, also. She was Catholic. All of the living children were taken off to orphanage and, never knew where their mother was buried. One thought, the cemetery next to Tangiers's on Market Street Summit Probate Court has  no record of her death/burial. She is in 1900 US Federal Census living at 211 N Arlington St. Also, found her in Youngstown, Ohio Directory 1889-90 living as Miss Maggie McGinnis, 526 Bryson, Youngstown, Ohio, occupation is domestic. After marriage she lived at 26 E Bain St., Youngstown, Ohio then moved to Akron, Ohio and remained there. [N0412]

MEDINA GUARDIANSHIPS
I'm trying to locate early Medina county guardianships, and thought someone might be able to tell me where these records might be kept. I would like to find a possible guardianship for the children of Isaac Johnson who lived in Northampton Twp. before it became part of Summit County and died in 1844. His widow Hannah Tibbetts Johnson married again in 1845 to William Hart in Medina County, Chippewa Twp. and lived there in 1850, they later moved to Norton. The children were Mary Ann, John and Polly. Medina county believes they would have transferred to the new county, however, when I was looking through transferred deeds last year I could not find these families. Does anyone have any suggestions?

His father was William (A./ Allen) Davis.  My grandfather moved to AR before 1900 and married Nellie Corcoran about 1900 in St Louis, MO. I am trying to determine if this is the correct line  Any information on Davis' in Summit County to affirm or deny the possibility will  be appreciated. [N0404]
