Epling, Gordon Ellis
Survived by daughters Heidi, Heather, Halee, Hilary and Nancy, granddaughter Amber and Grandson Jay. Gordon (62) passed away peacefully on February 1st, in Roseville, CA. after a courageous battle with cancer and a rare blood disorder. Born in Akron Ohio, Gordon lived most of his life in California. He was one of six children of Gilbert and Flora Lee Epling (both deceased), of Akron, Ohio. He was brother to Loretta (deceased) and is survived by his sisters Carol, Josette and Brenda and brother Michael. A mortgage broker by trade, Gordon’s greatest passion was on the water. A National Slalom Waterski Champion and Guinness Book of World Records record holder for fastest barefoot waterskier at 98 mph, he will also be remembered and adored by his comrades as “Big G” and “Brother”. A loving father, a great friend, and an accomplished businessman and athelete, his smile, silent charm, and dry sense of humor and generosity will forever be ingrained in the memories of those who loved and new him. Gordon’s family will be holding a private memorial service.

Charlene M. Fuller
April 9, 1920 – March 14, 2006
Born in Akron, Ohio she was active in church & school choirs and self-taught piano player. She won a scholarship to Cleveland Art Institute. Married Hubert Lamb in 1940 and had a son, Jerry. After her divorce from Hubert, she moved to L.A.. Later married Glenn Fuller. Charlene began work in L.A. as a bookkeeper eventually ending up at Northrup as Administrator of Insurance. At retirement, she moved to Huntington Beach, where she was active in multiple social groups. She was artistic, creative, loved to read, travel, the theater, music and people. She was loved by all who met her. Survivors are her son Jerry, adopted son Dick and his wife Margaret, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Cullen, James Joseph
Born May 28, 1922 in Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2006in Thousand Oaks, CA. after a long illness. An Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict. Mr. Cullen spent Twenty – One months as a prisoner of war in Germany when his B-17 was shot down in August 1943, on his fifteenth and last bombing mission before completion of his tour of duty. A graduate of the University of Southern California, he also attended the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, when recalled to active duty in 1951. He instructed Radio Writing at the Air Force Psychological Warfare training base at Mountain Home, Idaho. He also served temporary duty at the Voice of America Headquarters in New York City, where he was a scriptwriter for the English to Europe desk. Prior to his discharge, Cullen served as Operations Psychological Warfare Branch, Psychological Warfare Division, A.R.E. Headquarters, Washington, D.C. Cullen established his own advertising and public relations agency that had presidential, gubernatorial, and state candidates as clients. He also ventured into commercial real estate development and developed the Scott – Cullen building in Los Angeles, a 16 – story medical office complex adjacent to Good Samaritan Hospital. The building was dedicated, The Wilshire Metropolitan Medical Center, in June 1965. Other real estate developments included subdivisions in Hawaii and California. In later years, Cullen published two novels, a World War II memoir and selected short stories for children based on the poetry of Homer and Virgil. He is survived by his devoted companion, Shirley Cobb; his loving children, daughters, Christine Wallace and Conee Johnson, A son, John Cullen, and five grandchildren, Jennifer, Kacy, Michael, Andrew and Cullen. A memorial Service will be held on April 29, 2006 at 12:00 p.m. at Valley Oaks Memorial Park chapel in Westlake Village. Miner, Betty Jean
Born February 16, 1929 in Akron, Ohio and passed away peacefully at home on May 23, 2006 at the age of 77 from complications following a stroke. Survived by her son, Ralph, her daughter, Elissa Wald, and loving grandchildren, Jonathan and Kristin Wald. She is also survived by brother, Albert Blosser of Ohio and Burmah Epling of Georgia. Chapman Robert Edward
87 of Brea, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2006. He was born January 3, 1919 in Akron, Ohio. He served his country as a member of the United Sates Army, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. He enjoyed his 45 years as a manager in the lumber and hardware business, where he touched many lives along the way with his kind and gentle heart, warm smile and helping hands. He was a loving husband, father and the best grandpa two grandchildren could ever have. Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Lucille, daughter LuAnn Baroldi, grandchildren, Laura Bongiorno and Laron Baroldi. Andrew, Marcia K.
(67) Died July 21, 2006 at her home in Wildomar, CA after a long battle with cancer. Born the 10th of 13 children near Akron, Ohio in 1938. She came to California at the age of 19 to become a High Fashion Model here and in New York City, and once was the fitting model for Actress Loretta Young. Later she had a long career in Business Adm. and Mgmt. in law firms; a commodities brokerage; real estate and escrow companies, TRW and Ford Aerospace companies and two pharmaceutical firms. She leaves her husband of 16 years, three daughters, two sons, eight stepchildren, 15 grandchildren and one great – grandchild. Services on Sat. Yoak, Harry William
Born in Akron, Ohio July 3, 1919, passed away June 24, 2006. He moved to California in 1950 after serving in the U.S. Navy. A graduate of Kent State University, he later earned a Masters Degree from Chapman University. Starting as a teacher in the Garden Grove Unified School District, he progressed to Principal at Dr. C.C. Violet and Thomas Payne Elementary Schools. He also became the truant officer for the Garden Grove Unified School District. After retirement, he spent his time in Ensenada, Mexico and took great pride in his role of Santa Claus for the residents and children of his local community. He is survived by his four sons, Jeff, Bill, Don, and Ken; one daughter Holly Yoak-Shibata, and four grandchildren. His wife of 55 years, Jeanette, preceded him in death in 2001. Memorial Services will be held, July 6, 2006, 4:00 p.m. at the Summerville Retirement Home in Garden Grove.

Orrill, Jack Dempsey
Jack Dempsey Orrill was born September 14, 1923 in Akron, Ohio and moved to California in 1925. He served in World War II for the U.S. Navy and was stationed in the South Pacific. He was the owner and auctioneer for Orrill’s Auction Studio in Los Angeles for over 50 years. Passed away on July 27, 2006, at his home in North Hollywood in the presence of his family. He loved baseball, fishing and his family. He is survived by his wife Dorothy V., his daughter Janyce, and his sons, Jack H., Richard and Harry., his grandchildren Annette, Christopher, Brent, Kim, John, Lorry, Michael and Christopher. He was also survived by 15 great-grandchildren and two great –great grandchildren. Jack will be forever and deeply missed by those who had the fortune of knowing and loving him. Fox, Wanda M.
Passed away August 25, 2006 at the age 78 from heart failure. Born July 25, 1928 and eaised in Akron, Ohio. A graduate of Akron North High School, class of 1946 and Akron Business College. While attending a concert by The American Male Chorus, a popular singing group made up of WWII veterans, Mrs. Fox met and fell in love with the group’s lead tenor. After a one year courtship conducted by letter and telephone, she married the love of her life. She was hired as the group’s secretary and toured the country with her husband and 37 “big brothers” for three years. After starting her family, she moved 17 times throughout the midwestern states, finally settling in the Chicago area where she worked as a office manager for 30 years. Mrs. Fox moved to Laguna Woods after the death of her husband of 50 years, George M. Fox. She is survived by her daughter, Anita Dall of Hartford, WI and her Son, Eric Fox of Mission Viejo, CA. She was a grandmother to Jennifer, Shane, Jessica, and Rebecca and a great grandmother of Nicholas. Her love, kindness, faith and courage inspired all who met her. Boyle, Dorothy Mae (Dot)
Passed August 16, 2006. Dorothy was born February 5, 1919 in Akron, Ohio and moved to CA. during her teenage years. Dorothy lived in Los Angeles where she met and married her husband of 56 years, the late Paul Frederick Boyle. After raising five daughters, they retired to Yarnell, Arizona. Dorothy was very active in Brownies, Girl Scouts, Jobs Daughters, Eastern Star, was deacon of the Yarnell Presbyterian Church and volunteered for many years serving meals-on-wheels. Dorothy later returned to California to live near her daughters. Surviving are five daughters, Carolyn Scarborough, Evalynn Alu and husband Mick, Pauline Daerr and Stan Bilchik, Doreen Presley and husband Walt, Helen Moreno and husband Tom; ten grandchildren Mike and Jeff Alu, Mike Moreno, Ron & Steve Daerr, Brian, Eric and Daren Presley, Danny Morsk and Kathy Fredette. Dorothy was also blessed with eighteen great-grandchildren, sister and brother-in-law, Al and Sharon Boyle; sisters Lorraine Cors and Barbara Gonzales, and many nieces and nephews. A private service will be held Friday, September 8, 2006 in Newport Beach. Following the service family and friends will celebrate Dot’s life at the Presley’s home in Mission Viejo. GWENDOLYN ERNESTINE SAYERS BAXENDEN
Gwen passed away peacefully Sunday, February 20th in her home in Newport Beach with her family by her side.
She is survived by her loving husband Bryan Baxenden, son and daughter-in-law John and Carol Sayers, daughter Wendy Sayers Karges, Bryan's son, Bryan Baxenden Jr. and grandchildren Jennifer Sayers Bell, John Sayers IV, Terry Karges, Murphy Karges and Stacy Karges Bieck and eleven great-grandchildren.
Born in Akron, Ohio on November 10, 1915, she was a residence of Newport Beach for 48 years. She was an avid golfer and belonged to Santa Ana C.C., Big Canyon C.C., Thunderbird C. C, and Ironwood C.C. where she was once the Women's Club Champion.
She was nicknamed “Rosie" by her five grandchildren when she taught them to play and sing, Ring Around the "Rosies."
Services will be at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach on Friday at 12:30 PM, February 25th. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 17771 Cowan Street, Suite 200, Irvine, Ca 92614.

ROBERT T. BUCKLEY
Passed away peacefully at his home in San Clemente on June 4, 2005 afer a long struggle with complications of diabetes. He was 84.
Bob was born in Akron, Ohio on August 28, 1920 and grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a graduate of the Dupont Manual High School and during WWII was a B-25 radio operator and  gunner in the Army Air Corp., serving in North Africa and Italy'. Receiving an Honorable Dis charge at war's end, he worked as a service manager for Greybar Electric in Kentucky un til a move to San Diego, California in 1953 where Bob began a successful career as a real estate broker for home builders in Orange, San Diego, and Ventura Counties. He retired to San Clemente in 1982, where he had been a long time resident.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Clara; a sister Donie; two sons, Robert and Jerry; a daughter Janice; as well as three granddaughters and a grandson, Heather, Anna, Christie, and Kevin; and numerous nieces and nephews in Kentucky.
A private service for the family is pending.

DAVIS, WILLIAM,  89, of Zephyrhills, died Sunday (Dec. 25, 2005) in Dade City under the care of Gulfside Regional Hospice. He was born in Akron, Ohio, and came here in 1980. He was an Army  Air Forces veteran of World War II and was retired from management with the B.F. Goodrich Company after 22 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Transplant Garden Club of Zephyrhills and the First United Methodist Church of Zephyrhills. CLARK, Harvey Edwin
 Harvey was born in Akron, Ohio on June 12, 1918 and died peacefully
in Palm Desert, California on April 19,2005
 Survivors include his beloved wife Muriel, his son Jeffrey, his granddaughters, Lauren and Samantha; daughter-in-law Marlene Clark, stepson Jeffrey Koppelman and his wife Elizabeth, grandsons, Chad and Jordan Koppelman, stepdaughter Robin Evans. and her husband Dennis, granddaughter Kimberly Evans, and his sister Geraldine Fox. Harvey was predeceased by his first wife Helen, in 1984.
 He was kind, loving, a true gentleman and will be missed by all.

ROSE ELIZABETH
CLINKENBEARD
Rose Elizabeth Clinkenbeard, age 79, of Riverside, CA. passed away June 11,  2004. Rose was born on May 5, 1925 in Akron, Ohio. She lived in California for  64 years where she met her husband of 47 years, Guy. She worked various lobs, but her love was taking care of her family and home. Rose was known for her beautiful handmade Afghans and embroidered linens. She made matching outfits for her children. Friends and family were always welcome on New Year’s Day for her traditional Hungarian "Good Luck" stuffed cabbage and sauerkraut. During the Vietnam Conflict her home was always open to a Soldier on leave or on their way to Vietnam, giving them a place to stay and a home cooked meal. Many of these soldiers still call her "Mom". She always remembered her friends and families birthdays, her birthday greetings will, be missed by many.
She is preceded in death by her son Edward, husband Guy, and grandson Justin Lett.
She is survived by son, Anthony (Rita) Clinkenbeard, daughters Elizabeth (James) Lett, and Kathleen (Richard) Groves; grandchildren James (Alisha) Lett, Robert and Edward Lawson, David (Lorie) Clinkenbeard, Lanena (Jose) Gonzales, Daniel (Jodi) Groves, SSgt Richard  (Annie) Groves and Amanda (Matt Cripps) Groves; great-grandchildren  Brian and Michael Lett, David Dharma and Anthony Lawson, Suzie, Christina and Elizabeth Clinkenbeard, Selena and Marleah Gonzales and Zachary Groves.
Viewing was held Thursday 6/17 from 9am-11am. Funeral services were held Thursday at 11am with the graveside following at Rose Hills Memorial Park.

 After a long illness, Libby passed away Monday; June 20, 2005 in her Covina home: She was born to Ferdinand Delano and Elizabeth Cannon March 31, 1919 in Akron, Ohio. In 1957, she moved to California with her husband, Joseph L. D'Avello (1921-1999), and two children. Libby  had a wonderful sense of humor and was devoted to her dogs. She leaves behind her children, Dal (Mary) Dessecker of Yorba Linda, CA; Diane (Deedee) Frame and; her husband, Brad Bowers of Las Vegas, NV; three grandchildren Rick and Randy Frame, and Cameron Dessecker; and one, great-grandchild, Mia Frame.

DEMETZKY, Doreen, age 70, of Lake Elsinore, passed away 12/13/04 at In-land Valley Medical Center. Doreen was born 9/16/34 in Akron, Ohio. She previously lived in Orange County for 21 years. She was a clerk for the Orange County Courthouse for 14 years. She was a loving mother and raised three heartwarmmg children with the help of her loving husband, Daniel Demetzky. Doreen is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Daniel Demetzky, Lake Elsinore; daughter Patty (Mike) Mazurek, Corona; 2 sons, Arthur (Pam)  Collins, Wildomar, Cary (Ann) Collins, Lake Elsinore; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. DOWLING,  John M. "Jack" (84)
 Passed away April 10, 2005 at his home in Akron Ohio. Born July 21, 1920 Savannah Georgia to Arthur J. and Nellie Dowling, he resided most of his life in Los Angeles CA. Upon graduating from the University of Akron in 1951 he continued his studies at what is now Cal State Los Angeles. He retired from his position as guidance counselor and teacher at Virgil Jr. High (1962-1981) after 20 years of service. He loved to teach and was committed to helping the many students he served while at Virgil. Jack was a Navy veteran of WWII where he served in the South Pacific on the USS LST 625.
 Preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Florence Erickson; broth-er Arthur Dowling, sister-in-law Louise Dowling, and aunt Anne Ebberwein. FARGO, Margaret

April 13,1905 - March 16, 2004
 Margaret Fargo, 98, of Rancho Bernardo, died Tuesday,  March 16. She was born in Akron, Ohio and graduated from Wellesley College in
1926.
 She was the widow of the Honorable Stevens Fargo, judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County. As a president of the National Assistance League during World War II she established daycare centers for working mothers. Mrs. Fargo worked with Recording for the Blind and the Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles recognized her for 4000 hours of community service. She continued her volunteer work in Coronado after her husband's retirement. Survivors include Judith Ostrow of Seattle, Margo Baxley of Rancho Mirage, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren..

ROBERT C. FENTON JR.
 Robert Fenton, 75, of Palm Desert died March 28, 2005, at home with daughter Judy by his side.
 He was born Sept. 2, 1929 in Akron Ohio. Upon graduating from High School Robert joined the army and nerved his country as an x-ray technician in the Berlin Airlift. Robert attended Becker Jr. College and graduated with an Associate’s degree in science in 1951. He then attended Boston University and graduated with a degree in marketing in 1958. He worked in the aerospace industry until his retirement.
 Robert is survived by his three daughters Betty Ann Duff, Judy Goldstone, and Barbara Frank, and their sons and daughters, his grandchildren.
 Robert is also survived by his sister Jean Hall and his brother John Fenton.
 Services will be held Thurs. April 7 1 PM at Prince of Peace Episcopal Church in Woodland Hills.

GELLER THOMAS, Clair S.

January 25, 1923 to April 11, 2005
 Born Claire Hirschl in Akron, Ohio. Beloved wife of Alan Geller 1952-1991 and Jack Thomas 2000-2005. During World War II, she  served in the U. S.  Navy WAVES. She owned Geller Originals in Lose Angeles for 25 years before moving to Beaverton, OR in 1990 to Beaverton, OR in 1999. Two years later, she won the Ms. Senior Oregon contest.
 She is survived by her husband, Jack, sons Gary, Paul, Glen Geller, and three grandchildren.  You were a light in all our lives and will never be forgotten.
 Remembrances can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

GILSON, Richard Allen

December 21,1924-April 9, 2004
 Loving husband father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend Richard Gilson was deeply loved and widely respected by his family and many friends throughout the world. After a brave battle with Parkinson's Disease, he died peacefully Friday morning.
 His life was focused on what is best for people, on what is right and always on family. Loving and deeply loved husband of Barbara Rose. Gilson, father of Larry and Jim Gilson, father-in-law of Cathy and Nancy Gilson grandfather of Elliott, Caroline, Emily, Lisa and Matthew Gilson brother of Ruth Gerstein and the late Doris Rosen.
 He was born in Akron, Ohio and lived for many years in Cleveland. After serving in the submarine service in the Pacific during the Second World War, Dick returned to Ohio to marry his love-at-first-sight, Barbara, Rose. With their sons, Larry and Jim, they moved to Beverly Hills in 1958.
 Dick was a valued colleague with friends in many circles. He was active in the Plato Society, in civic affairs, as a founder and past resident of the Maple Counseling Center and with numerous other volunteer organizations, and he was a true patriot.
 His vitality, intelligence and caring nature lives on in everyone he
touched.

GRIFFITHS, HERBERT M., 70, of Land O'Lakes, died Saturday (Feb. 11, 2006) at home. He was born in Akron, Ohio, and came here from St. Augustine after he retired. He had been a computer programmer and was an Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Nena Gang; a son, Christopher; four daughters, Alicia, Cecilia, Cecily and Michelle; seven grandchildren; and a great-grand-child. HECKERMAN, Irvin Earl
 Born in Akron, Ohio on  April 16; 1927 and died in Santa Monica on October 13, 2004.
 Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Irma Heckerman; two sons, Ed and David Heckerman; brother, Joseph Heckerman; sisters, Charlotte Coghan, Juanita Johnson, and Rosemary Rose;  and four grand-children.
 Funeral Services will be 2:00 P:M. Sunday, October 17th, at the Little Chapel of the Dawn, at the mortuary. Friends may pay their respects at the service. Interment will be private at Woodlawn Cemetery in Santa Monica.`

JENKINS, Marvin Lee
 Born December 8, 1932 in Aultman, Ohio to Obediah Sr. and Novella Jenkins. Marvin earned a degree in music from Mount Vernon [should be Mount Union] University in Alliance, Ohio. After completing his military obligations in the U.S.  Army, he moved to Los Angeles.
 Proficient on all musical  instruments, but specializing on the keyboards, he gave private lessons to those who were musically inclined Marvin had the pleasure as pianist working with Della Reese for 25 years. He also recorded and performed with Oscar Brown Jr. and many other jazz artists. He became a musical consultant to stars on the rise and was recognized as a giant in his field.
 Marvin was preceded in death by his loving wife, Anne Jenkins; Son, Marvin Lee Jenkins, Jr.; parents, Obediah Sr. and Novella Jenkins; brothers, John Henry and Obediah Jr.
 He leaves to mourn: nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.      Services to beheld at Baldwin Hills Baptist Church, 4700 W. King Blvd Los Angeles, 90016, on Friday March 11, at 1 p.m.

KIDD,  ORRAN L, 87, of Holiday, died Saturday (Jan. 28, 2006) in Orchard Ridge Nursing Home in New Port Richey. Born in Akron, Ohio, he came here 30 years ago from Dayton, Ohio. He was a Navy veteran and purchasing agent for the Air Force at Wright Patterson AFB. He was a ham radio operator, and was a member of NARFE, Moose Tarpon Springs, Elks, Eagles, Masonic Lodge, Dade City Gun & Rifle Association, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, Egypt Shrine Tampa and Harvest Chapter 564 Eastern Star. He was Presbyterian. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Helen L.; two daughters, Nicky Whelan, Holiday, and Markita Murdock, Centerville, Ohio;and three grandchildren.

QUICK KENNETH R, SR., 77,  of Zephyrhills, died Tuesday (Jan. 10, 2006) under the care of Hernando Pasco Hospice in Dade City. He was born in Beckley, W. Va., and was a winter resident from Akron, Ohio. He was a Navy veteran of World War 11 and was a truck driver. He was active in the Military   Order of the Cooties and was past commander of the state of Ohio. He was a life member of the Mogadore 8487 and Pup Tent 24. Survivors include his wife, Leona; five sons, Kenneth R. Quick Jr., Culver City, Calif. WILBOURN, Barbara A, age 65 of San Juan Capistrano, passed away at her home on July 6, 2004.
She was born on June 27,1939 in Akron, Ohio and was a resident of Laguna Beach and San Juan Capistrano for the past 40 years. She was a graduate of Coventry High School in Akron, Ohio. She was a graduate of Radiological Course for Technologists from Children's Hospital, Akron, Ohio. She was a member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists and the California Society of Radiologic Technologists. She worked at Children's Hospital in Akron, Ohio for 4 years and at South Coast Radiological Group at Monarch Bay for 29 years.
She is survived by her sister,   Jessie M. Spencer of San Juan Capistrano and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services were held Thursday, July 8,  2004 at 2 PM at Bellevue Memorial Park, 1240 W. G St. in Ontario, Calif.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Zema, Kathryn Marie (nee Binn)  a 40 year resident of Santa Ana passed away peacefully amid close family on May 22, 2004 in S.A. at age 94. Born 1909 in Barberton Ohio, Kathryn relocated to Lompoc CA. with husband Michael Zema in 1941 where she operated several businesses in the Camp Cook (now Vandenberg) area.
She was proceeded in death by Michael and son Paul Wendling of Akron Ohio. Survivors include daughter Sandra Trettin, Granddaughter Theresa Hively, Great Granddaughter Nicole Hively all of S.A., Son Richard Reese of Rio Nido CA and innumerable grandchildren and great grandchildren in the Midwest area.

Memorial Services Friday 5/28 at St Callistus Catholic Church in G.G.  Her many friends are invited to attend.
Kathryn has been our rock and strength for many years,. was deeply loved and will be missed for all time.
