- Before Summit County was formed in 1840 Green Township belonged to several other counties. The date of 1800 has been used as a reference point since it is close to the 1803 date when Ohio became a state.
1800 to 1803: The area of Green Twp was in Trumbull County.
(Trumbull County was established in 1800)1803 to 1808: The area of Green Twp was in Columbiana County. (Columbiana County was established in 1803.)
1808 to 1840: The area of Green Twp was in Stark County.
(Stark County was established in 1808.)1840 to Present: The area of Green Twp is in Summit County.
(Summit County was formed in 1840.)

Inscriptions for several cemeteries in this township can be found in the book: "Summit County Cemetery Insccriptions, Volume 2" which was published in 1978 by the Summit County Chapter, OGS. This book also includes burials from Franklin Township.
EAST LIBERTY CEMETERY: a.k.a. KEPLAR BURYING GROUND

Located on the south side of East Turkeyfoot Lake Road (Rt 619) just west of South Arlington St. This cemetery is adjacent to the Church of the Nazarene. The older part of the cemetery was known as the Kepler Burying Ground. Andrew Kepler, who came here with his brother, John, in 1809 sold the land to the German Reformed Church in 1849.JONATHAN GRABLE:
Was buried on his farm 2 miles south of Greensburg. No other information.GREENSBURG UNION CEMETERY:
(published in Vol 2, pp 73-92)Established about 1836. Located on the west side of Thursby Road, south of Greensburg Road. This cemetery is owned by Green Township, is fenced in and well kept. The Evangelical Church Graveyard was started about 1836 when Peter Thornton donated one acre. At present there are about 10 acres in this burying ground.KLEINFELTER CEMETERY: a.k.a. KLINEFELTER CEMETERY

Located on the southeast corner of South Arlington Street where East Nimisila Road intersects. This tiny cemetery was originally a family plot on the farm of Conrad Dillman. Although the cemetery's owner is not known, it is maintained by Green Township. There is a Kleinfelter family monument in front of the first row.Notice to our readers:
