Columbia Road Cemetery
a.k.a. Smith Cemetery
Richfield Twp, Summit County, Ohio

Status:  No longer in use. Many stones missing and/or illegible. Owned and cared for by Richfield Township.
Location:  2459 Columbia Road, adjacent to a private home, just east of Dewey Rd.
Copied by:  DAR members in 1937, Imogene Bowen and Loretta St. John in 1971, Vernon and Mildred Lockert in 1978, Ryan R. Cross and Carol J. Host in 1989.
History:  It is reported that prior to World War I it was completely filled, but soon after that time many graves were moved to other cemeteries. Other reports claim there was an iron fence surrounding the cemetery that this was melted down for the war effort during W.W.II., and also that Christian Indians from the valley were buried here. At this time there is no documentation to prove or disprove these reports.

The various gravestone readings, and their accompanying notes, have been combined and represent all available information. There are no identifying factors such as row numbers or section and lot numbers. The order in which the gravestones were read has been kept intact but may not indicate order of burial.
