- Before Summit County was formed in 1840 Boston Township belonged to several other counties. The date of 1800 has been used as a reference point since it is close to the 1803 date when Ohio became a state.
1800 - 1808: The area of Boston Twp was in Trumbull County.
(Trumbull County was established in 1800.)1808 - 1812: The area of Boston Twp was in Portage County.
(Portage County was established in 1808.)1840 - Present: The area of Boston Twp is in Summit County.
(Summit County was formed in 1840.)

The following information is being provided to give you an idea of the location, or approximate location, of all known township cemeteries. It will also help identify any cemeteries where the
gravestones or burial records have been copied and, if known, where this information can be found.BOSTON MILLS CEMETERY:
Located at the end of Main Street which runs off of Boston Mills Road. Scattered gravestone inscriptions were published in the Chapter newsletter "The Highpoint" Feb 1985, pp 4-5.BRANDYWINE CEMETERY:
Destroyed. Was located in a woody area in back of 2110 and 2128 Brandywine Road, south of Northfield-MacedoniaCemetery, near Rt 8.(Note: Brandywine, originally in Boston Twp, was annexed by
Northfield Township in 1819.) The bodies and stones were moved in 1970 to Northfield-Macedonia Cemetery, in Northfield Twp, to make way for new Rt 271. Gravestone inscriptions published in the Chapter newsletter "The Highpoint" June 1989, pg 44.CASSIDY CEMETERY: see Mater Dolorosa Cemetery
Supposedly was on the south side of W Streestboro Road (SR303) between Rt 8 and Penninsula. Near a camp in the woods. No other information is available at this time.CEDAR GROVE CEMETERY:
Located in Peninsula on the south side of W Streetsboro Road (RT 303) west of Riverview Road.EVERETT CEMETERY - possibly known as CHAMBERLAIN CEMETERY: May now be destroyed. Was located at the foot of Oak Hill Road about 1/2 mile west of the village of Everett. It was on the old Swan farm by the old covered bridge.
FAIRVIEW CEMETERY:
Established about 1890. Located on the north side of Boston Mills Road east of Rt 8. Next to the Boston Heights Police Department and the Town Hall.MATER DOLOROSA CEMETERY:
Established in 1869. Located in 1997 by Marlene Diefendorf 2 miles east of Peninsula, on the south side of Rt 303, at the Happy Days Visitor Center. An abandoned Irish Catholic Cemeterybelieved to have originated as a family plot for Irish farmers John & Mary Ann DOUD. The location of this cemetery is very close to the location of Cassidy Cemetery listed above.Notice to our readers:
