About the AACUG
The Akron Area Computer Users Group was born in the early 1980's for people to share ideas and information about Commodore 64 computers. As the years passed, our members' expertise expanded to include the Commodore 128, Amiga, and Intel (and clone) machines. Presently, most members use Windows. The heart of the club lies in our regular monthly meetings (every third Saturday at 1pm) and Special Interest Groups. Problem are solved, programs are demonstrated and discussed, skills are taught, and we have fun doing it. Want to take the "fear" out of computers? Stop in during a meeting and find out how!
Our meeting
Our main meetings are the best time for everyone to get together and talk computers. Each month we offer classroom-based instruction on all sorts of WINDOWS programs. Members also give demonstrations of their favorite software and hardware. We have started to receive support from Microsoft in the way of them sending us their software to review for our club; from time to time you'll find demonstrations of these programs at the meetings and reviews of these programs in the newsletter. Got something to sell? Looking for that hard-to-find or used item? Then this is the place to do it. Bring it to meeting or place an ad in the newsletter. Is your computer crashing and you have no idea where to start? Our "Question an Answer" segment of the meetings gives everyone the opportunity to ask questions or offer advice. Everyone knows something about something, so you're sure to find an answer to many questions.
